Our Company History
Since our founding in 1985, Mall City Mechanical (MCM) has grown from a modest operation based out of a home in Kalamazoo, Michigan, into a trusted regional leader in mechanical contracting, custom fabrication, and facility management. From day one, our growth has been driven by a commitment to innovation, quality craftsmanship, and long-standing client partnerships.

1985
MCM was established in Kalamazoo by Dennis DeHaan and Greg Moerman, who saw an urgent need for reliable mechanical services in the healthcare industry. Taking a leap of faith, they set out with a simple but powerful goal: to provide steady, full-time work for a five-person team. What started as a small, purpose-driven business quickly began to gain momentum through trust, hard work, and a reputation for excellence.
2007
As demand for MCM’s services grew, so did the company. In 2007, MCM expanded into the Grand Rapids market to better serve its growing client base across West Michigan. With two locations, MCM could more efficiently meet regional needs, streamline logistics, and continue to deliver on its promise of responsive, high-quality service.
2016
To further enhance precision and flexibility, MCM opened its own Sheet Metal Fabrication Shop in downtown Kalamazoo. This facility empowered our team to produce custom solutions in-house, eliminating limitations and enabling faster, more cost-effective service delivery. It also marked another way MCM could contribute value to both our clients and the local community.
Today
Today, MCM stands at the forefront of mechanical systems and facility solutions. We continue to invest in new technologies, sustainable practices, and forward-thinking methodologies—all with the goal of keeping our clients’ facilities running smoothly and efficiently. Our focus remains clear: to create safe, productive, and well-maintained environments that support the people within them.
Our journey is more than a timeline of growth—it’s a reflection of our unwavering dedication to building vitality and improving lives through the work we do every day.
Leadership Team
The MCM team acts as an extension of your own, offering specialized mechanical contracting solutions and services across a broad range of industries.
